ostomy bags. for 24 hrs. patient empathy. a beast to take off. a beastttttttt.

it wasn’t as uncomfy as i thought it’d be aside from bein afraid that it was going to leak (at one pt it did but only because it wasn’t secured) and feeling like i smelled poop even though there was only pumpkin spice pudding in there lol

and my roommate telling me i was gross and staying away from  me because she’s dealt w/ ostomy patients. 

the last pic is of a stoma which is when they pull  part of your intestines/colon through your abdomen after they’ve dissected part of it. the ostomy bag is what then catches the poop. strangely i think (some) stomas are kind of beautiful in a way. but then again i think that about cervices too… ;-)

we discussed how to help ostomy patients still feel confident and sexy. and how to still be sexual. and how they should not let people have sex w/ their stoma (EW EFFING EW WTF ) because there’s no pleasure (no nerves and no sphincters) and can lead to infection for obvious reasons

no penises in the stomas!

note: not all pics are of my belly. most aren’t. the one or ones that is/are do look good though but granted this is in the morning and before breakfast lol. much diff story after that. food baby all day
