ER

i watched a guy get an NG tube and it was…traumatizing to he and i and the nursing student to say the least

i was working as a tech she was being precepted by an agency nurse and the guy was there for gastroenteritis i believe ..related to his diabetes. so sad

he was throwin up blood all day and all night

so they said to ng tube him

he was already in a lot of pain

had been in for this gastroenteritis 14 times already

never had an ng tube

she let the student do most of it

and it was a fail

not the student’s fault necessarily but still it freaked her out

so did the code she saw earlier

anyways the tube went down his nose…down the back of his throat..curled up or something..came back up his throat n got stuck…ended up coming out his mouth as they tried to remove it

in the meantime blood is coming out of his nose and mouth and hes coughing screaming kicking and crying ( a grown man. it was so sad.)

those tubes are so freakin long i never want one not EVER!

he ende dup goin to ICU after a while .. he didn’t look like other ICU patients because he was walkie/talkie but i guess he was throwing up too much?

poor poor man
